Catch artwork problems before they reach the printer

Preflight is the last artwork check before committing film, ink and production time. Review the file at its intended physical size, paying particular attention to small text, transparent regions and isolated pixels. A software check helps identify issues, but a sample print is still useful when the design or material is unfamiliar.

How to use it

  1. Load the artwork and choose its intended print dimensions.
  2. Review the file information and the available inspection views.
  3. Correct the source where necessary, then check the exported artwork in your normal RIP workflow.

A practical example

A soft edge that is barely visible against a white preview may show a halo on a dark garment. Compare the artwork against contrasting backgrounds before approving it.

Before you print

  • Check resolution at the final print size, not just the file’s DPI label.
  • Inspect fine strokes, isolated pixels and partially transparent edges.
  • Confirm that the artwork background matches the intended garment effect.
  • Keep an approved sample for jobs where color and detail are critical.
